The Beast Of Belper

Lady Felicity Chumbly-Wynne-Bagg takes aim

The Beast Of Belper - A Promenade Show For Children, Grown-ups And Beasts

The Beast of Belper was a raucous piece of outdoor theatre for all the family, performed in Belper River Gardens as the finale of the 2013 Belper Arts Festival.

We made the show in record time, thanks to our extraordinarily inventive performers- actors Laura Chambers and Tim Evans and dancers James Bartley and Alice Vale- our intrepid designer Dorrie Scott (who wasn’t going to let two broken arms get in her way) and our crack team of 10 - 12 year old Little Beasts.

For many, many years, the pretty Derbyshire town of Belper has been terrorised by a terrifying Beast! It has stalked the hills and villages of the Amber Valley for generations. It has worried sheep, spilled pints and run amok at farmers' markets.

Many have tried to rid the town of this accursed monster, but none have succeeded. So in May 2013, famous big-game hunter Lady Flossie Chumbly-Windbag and renowned gentleman naturalist Professor Percival Pollock joined forces to save the town and capture the Beast once and for all.

But they were no match for the wily Beast and her tribe of ferocious Little Beasts!

“Very inclusive of children and adults and very funny”
